What makes a good printable calendar

The right holidays for the country and year: Movable feasts shift every year (Carnival, Easter, Corpus Christi), and US days off move when a holiday lands on a weekend. Every date here comes from the same legal rules used on the holiday pages.
The week starting on the day you expect: Sunday first in the United States and Brazil, Monday first in Portugal and in ISO 8601. Getting this wrong is the quickest way to write an appointment in the wrong box.
Exact paper size: A4 is 210 × 297 mm; US Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (215.9 × 279.4 mm), 5.9 mm wider and 17.6 mm shorter. A PDF laid out for one and printed on the other comes out shrunk or clipped.
Room to write: One month per page, two months per page or the notes column leave space for appointments and local holidays, which no national calendar includes.
Readable in black and white: Ink saver gives holidays an outline and bold type instead of a colored fill, so they stay visible on a mono printer and to readers who do not tell colors apart well.
