Frequently asked questions
How accurate is a tap-tempo BPM calculator?
Tap-tempo is accurate to within 1–2 BPM for most songs once you have 6–8 consistent taps. The more taps you record, the more the random error averages out. Our tool auto-resets after 3 seconds of inactivity so a missed beat won't skew the whole result.
What does BPM mean?
BPM stands for Beats Per Minute — the number of rhythmic pulses in a song per minute. It's the universal measure of music tempo. 60 BPM means one beat per second; 120 BPM means two beats per second.
Can I use the keyboard instead of clicking?
Yes! Press the Space bar in time with the beat. The Space bar trigger works just like clicking the TAP button, making it easy to keep your eyes on the screen.
Why does the BPM jump around with only 2–3 taps?
With fewer taps, a single inconsistent tap has a big effect on the average. Keep tapping — confidence increases with each beat and the reading stabilises quickly.
