How to choose and use these tools
- Choose the source and destination format. Use XML to JSON for structured XML; CSV and JSON tools handle tabular records.
- Test a small sample containing an empty value, a repeated item and a special character before converting a complete document.
- Inspect the output in the destination application. For images, check transparency and dimensions after changing format.
Worked example
In the XML converter, <items>
A

B
</items> becomes {"items":{"item":["A","B"]}}. An attribute such as id="001" becomes "@id":"001", preserving its leading zeros.
Frequently asked questions
Is XML to JSON conversion lossless?
Not with this mapping. Element names and attributes are retained, but comments, processing instructions, surrounding text whitespace and exact mixed-content order are not. Keep the original XML when you need a reversible transformation.
Why can a CSV conversion change my data?
CSV has no universal type system or nesting model. A spreadsheet may interpret identifiers as numbers or dates, and nested JSON needs a flattening convention. Check delimiters, escaping and identifier fields after importing.
