Of the 10 national holidays in 2026, 9 fall on weekdays and 1 on a weekend: Proclamation of the Republic (Proclamação da República) on Sunday, November 15. Brazilian federal law does not move holidays to a weekday, so that date gives no extra day off, leaving 252 business days in the year.

Carnival 2026 is February 16 and 17, Ash Wednesday (February 18) runs until 2 pm, and Corpus Christi is Thursday, June 4. None of them is a national holiday: they are optional days for the federal civil service and holidays only where a state or city law says so, which is why they are outlined rather than filled.

The 2026 optional days follow Portaria MGI nº 11.460/2025, which besides the usual ones added bridge days on April 20 and June 5 and half days on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve; all of them are marked.

2026 is a general election year: the first round is on October 4 and any runoff on October 25. Article 380 of the Electoral Code makes election day a national holiday, but it is always a Sunday, so it changes nothing on the calendar and is not counted.

State holidays and city holidays are not shown because they differ from place to place: Lei 9.093/1995 lets each city set up to four religious holidays, Good Friday (April 3 in 2026) included. Turn on the notes column to write in your local ones.
